There are things that are better left forgotten, and others that we want to continue enjoying forever.
Many of the latter exist because there are people who have cared for and protected them so that they continue to exist within our reach.
Today I'm talking to you about a project created by some of these people, who have helped:
- To recover lost varieties by offering diversity in wines
- To maintain its biodiversity by taking care of the earth
- To enjoy with each sip taking care of our palates
They are Oller del Mas, a Catalan winery with a clear idea:
Recover forgotten native grapes to turn them into the protagonists of their extraordinary wines.
Lately, we have talked a lot about wines that express identity and origin as a way of differentiation. At E2G we are committed to them and present you projects that we are proud of and we have confirmed their quality and success.
Oller del Mas is one of them and we are proud to have them in our portfolio. Their wines are pure elegance, of which you cannot open just one bottle.
Wines that speak of their home: the land and climate where they were born.
Wines that speak of their family: the protected biodiversity of their environment that helped deliver the best fruits.
D.O. Pla de Bages
Oller del Mas is part of Pla de Bages, a privileged area, surrounded by mountains and natural parks. From where you have one of the best views of the profile of Montserrat, the most sacred mountain in Catalonia.
The winemaking tradition of this area has existed for as long as wine has existed. In fact, some historians argue that the name “Bages” comes from the Latin Bacchus, the God of wine.
Currently, it is one of the most emerging D.O due to the conservation of native varieties, its climate, and its soil.
But, as anyone who knows about wines knows, not everything is D.O.
Oller del Mas also produces non-denominational wines, several of which have been awarded as the best in Catalonia by the Guia de Vins de Catalunya 2024.
More than 1,000 years of history follow this place and the Oller family.
37 generations have lived and cared for the same property over the centuries. A magical space, with a 10th century castle included, that breathes the DNA of the family.
