THE WINERY THAT SAW THE RIOJA BORN
Heart and tradition in our portfolio.
At E2G, we carefully choose all the projects we work with for their uniqueness, values or history.
Wines that speak when you drink them and even when you look at them.
In this article, I tell you about one of them, our recently incorporated Martínez Lacuesta.
They are a century-old family winery born in Haro, the heart of La Rioja. A family that promoted the Rioja Denomination of Origin, and that was already part of this land of wines.
This is their story and the reasons why your market will fall in love with these wines, as we did it.
🍷 125 years of history 🍷
One of the few wineries in La Rioja that can boast of having produced wine in 3 different centuries.
The winery was officially founded on February 1, 1895, and throughout all these years, it has always been in the hands of the same family.
Haro is the cradle of this family and also that of Rioja wines.
Martínez Lacuesta is Rioja and Rioja is Martínez Lacuesta. One does not exist without the other.
🍷Tradition and Origin🍷
Martínez Lacuesta is the faithful representation of tradition and evolution without breaking fidelity with the origin.
In line with its values, the winery decided to recover the old labels on the bottles, which seems to us a transgressive way to reflect its identity and fulfill its objective of transferring its legacy to the present.
The way they make their wines also defends a return to origins through manual work, dedication, and patience to offer fine wines with history and extreme quality.
They define themselves as “wine refiners”, an adjective that you corroborate when you taste them and seem to be tasting pure silk.
Not many wines give you such a feeling on the palate.
🍷 100 hectares of vineyards in the best locations of La Rioja 🍷
No more than 20 kilometers around, the vineyards are owned and in the hands of traditional families from La Rioja, attached to their land and their identity.
The vineyards of Martínez Lacuesta are everyone's heritage. Legacy of culture, landscape, Haro and Rioja.
🍷 Singular elaborations 🍷
Tradition is also very present in their production.
These are some of their practices:
✓ Natural fermentation
✓ Manual harvests
✓ Aging in second and third use barrels to avoid excess wood.
✓ Manual racking by gravity every 6 months.
✓ Old vintages on the market; due to its long aging in the bottle, that achieves that delicate and characteristic refinement.
The result speaks for itself in every sip. Wines that manage to agree with everyone who tries them.
🍷 Identity and native varieties 🍷
All wines of their brands; Lacuesta, Martínez Lacuesta and Campeador are made with native varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Viura, Graciano and Mazuelo.
➔ Martínez Lacuesta is a story, one adapted to new trends.
➔ Campeador represents his most classic wines, of great quality and timeless.
➔ Lacuesta is fresh, carefree and closeness.
🍷 An iconic branding 🍷
As we mentioned previously, Martínez Lacuesta has rescued the old labels of its bottles, which gives them a unique and vintage image that visually reflects the values and history of its wines.
The powerful graphic identity of Martínez Lacuesta and its emblematic advertising have traveled around the world representing the brand (and Rioja wines), since the last century.
Maybe one day, technology will allow us to smell and taste through screens.
If that were the case, half the words in this article would be unnecessary, because these wines speak and convince for themselves.
