CLOS DE LUZ
THE OLDEST CARMENERE IN CHILE
Today we want to take you to Chile, specifically to the Almahue Valley, a sacred land with the oldest vineyards in the country.
Here lies Clos de Luz, the most recent addition to our portfolio.
Clos de Luz is a Chilean winery with a rich history and a deep commitment to quality and craftsmanship. In this article, I invite you to discover what makes them different and why it could be a great opportunity for your market.
A legacy of generations - Beginning with the charming grandmother Luz
Their story begins in 1945, when Grandmother Luz planted the vineyards that today remain the heart of the winery. This legacy was revitalized in 2015 by the new generation of the Edwards Cosmelli family, who have continued the family winemaking tradition and brought it to thousands of people around the world.
The Oldest Carmenere Vines in Chile
Their wines are not only a representation of the best Chilean Carmenere but also the oldest.
Their vineyards house the oldest Carmenere vines in Chile, planted the same year the winery was founded. These vines are neither grafted nor cloned, ensuring a purity and authenticity that is hard to match.
At Clos de Luz, everything matters, from the vine to the bottle, which is why they use the Massal selection method, a rigorous ancient process that selects the best vines from a vineyard and propagates them through cuttings, guaranteeing superior quality in all.
This is their bet and philosophy: quality always prevails over quantity.
You feel it when you taste any of their wines, fresh and elegant, with minimal intervention and fermented with native yeasts.
Beyond their elegance, their wines stand out for their natural fruit over wood aromas, an approach achieved through the use of clay amphorae and 50 hl oak barrels.
Award-Winning and Globally Recognized Wines
Clos de Luz has received worldwide awards. Robert Parker and Jancis Robinson can’t be wrong.
A winery for a lasting relationship
For Clos de Luz, creating trustworthy, committed, and fruitful collaborations is very important, and they are involved in obtaining the best results. They value long-term business relationships, with a strong focus on brand building.
A significant advantage for any importer.
